Jeremy Avis provides customized research, analysis, project design, communications, mediation and training for development organizations. He combines a unique professional background in Anthropology and Child Psychology and the Performing Arts.
Mr. Avis conducts surveys, interviews, rural appraisals, environmental education and mediation in conflict situations with marginalised and rural populations. He desgins budgets and implements development programmes particualrly those involving help to creative industries and culture. He surveys attitudes/beliefs among varied, populations.
He has worked in difficult and demanding social environments in Africa and the Middle East with people from over 20 different countries with widely differing age-ranges and ability.
As a seasoned educator, he organises and chairs seminars on cultural industries, environmental education, child development, eco-tourism, HIV/Aids and cultural awareness/tolerance. As an effective communicator and interviewer, he combines techniques from theatre and music within a professional framework of development anthropology and journalism.
As a skilled international performer and producer of music and theatre, he transforms complex ideas to communicate new development programmes in simple, entertaining, and accessible ways. He also designs development programs that are practical, culturally sensible and effective.
A British citizen, he speaks fluent French and also business level German, Hebrew and West African Pidgin and entry-level Swahili.
