SUMMARY - Robert Beckman has more than 40 years experience in international development, including 27 years as a career United States Foreign Service Officer. Extensive managerial, supervisory and organizational skills, and broad experience in policy, program and project formulation in key economic development sectors. Competence in energy and environment, trade and investment promotion, financial sector reform, and commercialization of technology. Significant experience in program design, implementation and evaluations in the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, former Soviet Union and Southeast Asia.

An American citizen, Robert Beckman has wide area knowledge of the economies and cultures of the regions in which he served, and experience with transition, conflict and post-conflict situations. He speaks French at professional level and is conversant in Dutch and Swedish. Further, Mr. Beckman has basic speaking familiarity with Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi and Russian.

In most recent overseas assignment, in 2006 directed monitoring and evaluation services for the $4 billion USAID reconstruction and development program in Iraq. Stationed in Baghdad, served as Chief of Party for International Business and Technical Consultants, Inc. contract with USAID/Iraq.

In his prior long-term assignment, based in New Delhi, Mr. Beckman served for five years as Regional Coordinator and Program Manager for USAID South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Cooperation and Development. In this capacity, he headed a $50 million effort to promote mutually beneficial energy linkages across eight South Asian countries. Previously, Mr. Beckman served as a US-based Chief of Party for the International Resources Group contract in support of the United States-Asia Environmental Partnership, an inter-agency initiative engaging 12 Asian nations.
