Candidate Sourcing

The Development Executive Group offers an executive search service that provides shortlists of potential candidates for international development positions. Unlike traditional executive search, this service is much less expensive and does not entail success fees for hiring candidates. We have successfully provided executive search services to ACDI/VOCA, Crown Agents, Human Dynamics, International Relief and Development (IRD), IPA Energy Consulting, Management Sciences for Health, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the National Democratic Institute (NDI), RTI International, SNV Netherlands, Tonichi Engineering Consultants, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and other firms and non-profit organizations.

We are not an executive search firm, but, perhaps more importantly, we are a community of international development professionals. Through our membership of more than 75,000 development professionals from around the world at all levels in their careers, we are uniquely positioned to quickly identify candidates and compile shortlists of ideal candidates who are interested and available.

• You submit a detailed job description using this form
   
• We reply with any questions about the position and a specific price (prices range from US $2,000 - $3,500 per position depending on the level of effort required)
   
• New! – All Executive Members receive a 50% reduction in the Candidate Sourcing fee (Reduced fee of $1000 to $1750)
   
• Upon approval by the client, we begin our search using our database of 75,000+ candidates, advertising, and our broad network of professional contacts in international development
   
• Within two weeks, we provide 5-10 candidates who fit the description and indicate they are available and interested in the position - clients receive this concise report plus CVs for each candidate
   
• There are no success fees - you may hire all or none of the candidates provided. Our incentive in providing the best possible candidates is your repeat business.

One may be tempted to utilize this service for only the most difficult-to-fill positions - after all other resources have been exhausted. We welcome that challenge but reserve the right to decline your request - in the interest of saving you time and money - if we believe we cannot fill it (e.g. a former investment banker with an Ivy-League MBA who is fluent in Bislama and ready to relocate to Vanuatu - next week). If we try but are unable to find at least 5 suitable candidates for your position, there is only a minimum charge of US $250.

This executive search service includes discussions with potential candidates to determine their interest and availability. For an extra fee, we also check references.

We would like to thank those firms who have pointed out that traditional executive search doesn't typically make sense in the international development industry and have requested our assistance. Aside from an occasional top job at major development consultancies and NGOs, the cost of executive search and the success-based nature of the fee structure doesn't usually fit with a market characterized by bids and lean budgets.
